viking damascus steel Swiss dagger Gladius sword Blood Grooved gladiator sword viking damascus steel Swiss dagger Gladius sword gladiator sword The Viking sword (also known as the Viking age sword) or Gladius sword is the type of sword prevalent in Western and Northern Europe during the Early Middle Ages. The type of Viking sword was made famous in the Stiklestad battle. The Viking sword developed in the 8th century from the Merovingian sword and was the primary sword used by the Scandinavian based Viking people. The sword was derived from the Roman Gladius sword. It is a single handed sword with a sharp tip and edges designed for slashing as well as thrusting. Viking swords remained popular until the 12th century where they blended into Norman swords which were the first stages of the knightly sword. viking damascus steel Swiss dagger Gladius sword gladiator sword The sword is made from Pattern welded Damascus steel. Pattern welded Damascus steel is a hard heat treated, folded carbon steel. There are 11 pieces of steel, folded five times, making 352 layers. The steel is the perfect combination of hardness and durability with a Rockwell hardness rating between 55 and 56 HRC. High carbon damascus steel must contain layers of high carbon steel. The high carbon steel we use is 1095 steel which is the highest content carbon steel used in swords. The combination of the steel layers creates a sword that is strong enough to hold a powerful edge while having the strength and flexibility to withstand powerful collisions. This makes the perfect steel for swords. The handle is wood with Damascus steel bolsters. It comes with a leather sheath. viking damascus steel Swiss dagger Gladius sword gladiator sword Limited Edition Swiss Series Swords MountainForge Swiss Series swords are individually hand forged, following the strictest guidelines. The Damascus steel blades, guards and pommels are made with a blend of 1095, Andc15N20 steel, giving a stunning contrast to the folded steel layering. Each sword comes with a scabbard, interlaced sword belt We are confident that our Swiss Gladius Series swords will impress even the most discriminating collector. viking damascus steel Swiss dagger Gladius sword gladiator sword Blade: We forge all of our own Damascus steel from 1095/15N20 Alloy Steel. The principal reason for this was the huge variability in the quality of steel available to sword smiths. Depending on the type of ore, the quality of the kiln, the nature of the fuel, humidity, etc. the type of steel obtained varied drastically from region to region. It would take our combined knowledge of twentieth-century chemistry to identify that these deviations were due to the presence of carbon at the time of smelting or forging. The Description Quality Standards Our Damascus blades are made from high quality non-stainless steels which rival or exceed any Damascus blade made from the 1095 and 15N20. Our Damascus combination has taken years to perfect and has been tested under a variety of application which will offer professional performance in categories of toughness, strength (lateral stress) and edge honing and holding ability. This is a gorgeous sword. Strictly utilitarian. Crafted with simplicity and purpose. A sword. It is not large, but it has a distinct weight. You need strong wrists to wield it. Even a man would have trouble with this sword if he were to try to use it without strong wrists. I keep it, as part of my collection, very small collection, but it is a usable sword, fully functional. So be careful. I bought because I am waiting for the zombies. LOL.Speaking of which, you would have to train hard to decapitate zombies with sword axe or spear. Train to move very fast but precisely, always aware of what is behind and to the sides, as well of what is in front. Good luck with that. Cheers.
