What can I say? A fantastic set of 19 CDs in a hardback book, including all his albums, four CDs of non-album tracks and two previously unreleased concerts. Many of these tracks have never been on cd before, including his first solo album and many of the extras. Most people know Shaky for his big hits, but dig deep and you’ll find some fantastic gems, which I personally prefer to his more commercial and better known tracks. Shaky is simply one of the best blues/rock singers to come out of the UK.To me the set is worth it just for the live concert from 2019. A great band and great arrangements make this a must-have for anyone even remotely interested in his music. The feel is much more in line with his latest studio album (Echoes of our times), so you get rock, blues, harmonica, sac and brass as well as the more traditional rock and blues instruments. If I had to have minor gripes, there would be two:1. The tracks he recorded around the time of his first solo album, which were later released on an album called ‘The Track Years’ are not included. That’s a good set of recordings which would have been great to have included.2. The original album version of ‘What do you want to make those eyes at me for’ is not included. It was a different mix which was apparently put on the ‘Lets Boogie’ album by mistake, so is replaced here (as it was on the ‘Epic Masters’ set) by the ‘correct’ single mix. This means the original can still only be found on the original vinyl album. But that’s nit-picking. This is an amazing set, and you even get an autograph book inside that is personally signed by the man himself. Buy this, you won’t regret it.All we need now is a Shakin Stevens and the Sunsets complete box set.
