I was watching a special on YouTube about Greek heavy metal. Turns out there's a lot of metal bands that have come out of that country. The girl was kind enough to drop at least 20 different names. I gave a quick listen to most of the bands she mentioned. Some were ok, some were better than ok, but you know what? None of those bands came anywhere close to these guys right here! In fact, this is some of the best metal I've heard period. I'm really racking my brain trying to think of any band that has come out in the last 10 years who has better music than this album. Green Lung, Riot city, Powertrip and Wolftooth come to mind but, I'm not sure if they quite elevate their sound to the level that Eternal Champion does. I'd say they're definitely influenced by the NWOBHM sound. That being said they very much have their own original sound, and the singer sounds like he could quite possibly be a Greek demi-god. The song writing is what really sets it apart, however. It has some of those great galloping riffs you might hear in the golden age of Iron Maiden. You also have those beautiful melodic solos that would get any Spartan amped up for battle. I can see this band recently released a new album. I'm actually scared to buy it just because the music on this cd is so perfect.THE LYRICS- It seems more and more that instead of being against Christianity as an organized religion, a lot of metal bands now seem to vehemently hate all religions, God, and all that is good. It's an extremely unoriginal, dark rabbit hole that appeals to bands mostly with low levels of creativity and IQ. They basically make my soul want to puke. I'd much rather hear refreshing lyrics about ancient battles, warriors, Weapons, Armor and all the other very cool stuff Eternal Champion sings about. This is metal at its most epic. Check out these amazing songwriters!
