NECA has done it again, after just a few months of releasing the incredible Predator series 8 action figures, here we get John J. Rambo from First Blood. The movie is a classic and deserves an action figure with this high a quality sculpt and packaging. Much like the Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) action figure for Predator series 8, this Rambo action figure has an incredible head sculpt. Maybe not quite as good as the Arnold likeness, but this is still easily the most accurate likeness of Sylvester Stallone I have ever seen.NECA has also again used their newer translucent plastic for the head and arm pieces to simulate real flesh. The detail in the machine gun, Rambo's knife, the ammo belts, the bloody cut on his arm, the dirty jeans and even the stubble on his face are just impressive. It's hard to imagine anyone doing a better job with this iconic character. I like the blister and card for this figure more than the Predator series, and the whole aesthetic of this figure and package I think do an impeccable job of capturing and conveying the look and feel of the movie. The articulation for this figure is also on par with the Dutch figure recently released from the Predator series 8 line. You can even remove the three ammo belts Rambo comes with and feed them into the M60 machine gun, an awesome feature as well as a removable right hand so Rambo can hold his knife.I really have to give credit here to the people who made this figure over at NECA. Kyle Windrix, Trevor Zammit and Jason Frailey did an amazing job on the sculpt for this figure and the accessories. The body sculpt, the limbs and head and accessories are all superb. Jon Wardell and Geoffrey Trapp's paint job is great, everything from the silver paint on the shoelace holes on the boots to the bloody wound on John J. Rambo's right arm, just a stellar job. And finally Chris Longo on the packaging which I love. A usually overlooked part of action figure production but not with this figure. I have been waiting months for this figure and not only did it not disappoint, it exceeded my expectations. Any fan of First Blood and any action figure collector needs to get their hands on this. This is another big step in the future of technology being applied to make the best, most accurate action figures to represent their respective source material. I hope that NECA produces more action figures based off of iconic movie characters, they are doing an incredible job making immaculate figures based off some of my all-time favorite movies. One can only hope they will do an even better John McClane from Die Hard and even Jack Burton from Big Trouble In Little China, or maybe even a Crocodile Dundee or Lethal Weapon action figures with this same level of love and care. NECA has just nailed it, well done NECA, well done. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.During my teenage years, the animated tv show "Rambo: The Force of Freedom" inspired and sculpted me to be the man I am today.Having served two years years with the Salvation Army on the receiving dock at the distribution center, I felt betrayed by 'the man.'All too often was I stuck doing volunteer work for hours on end around the holidays taking unwanted clothing items. More often than not, they would be unwashed clothes. To add salt to my wounds, most of time, it would be soiled senior citizen (deceased?)under garments.I would complain to management, but they did not care. They said they could find illegals or felons to do the same job and they would not complain. Being lumped in with the same class of people infuriated me. The final breaking point for me was when I was abandoned in the store for the night being unable to escape. Several cats broke in and urinated on the soafas that were to delivered the next day to the local Planned Parenthood (pro abortion clinic) lobby. The soafas were shipped out, but blame was placed on me and I was relieved of my post from the Salvation Army.Recalling the multi-cultural accumulation of quasi-soldiers misunderstood and discarded by higher supposedly "trusted" institutions from the "Rambo" animated tv show, I wanted to be left alone and wander the land as I sought inner peace. However, a higher calling awaited me and my special set of skills aquired from repeated viewings of the show. Now, I am in charge of security and ticket validation from a modest booth in a parking lot downtown for local events. I placed this figure on my small desk to remind me of those dark years of betrayal and drive me to be who I am today. Unable to qualify for a weapons permit, I carry a 10" baton and can of light pepper spray (not harmful to small animals.)I'd seen this figure in the store before, and regretted not buying it. I'm glad I got it here, it's a fine representation of the character from the film, albeit with a permanent angry snarl. If I could change anything, the plastic used for the face would be a little less translucent, but not a huge deal. One thing buyers should be aware of you can't really see in the pictures here is that the top of his right arm is streaked in blood, with a little on his face too. I was already aware of this from seeing it in person first, but this might be a consideration for people buying the figure for kids.Great sculpt, great paint application, and super articulation on a 7" Kick-Butt Action figure. Neca has raised the bar up with their paint application, it used to be one of the problems in their old figs. This Figure is a must for any Neca or Rambo buff and the best part is that your getting a great figure for a great price, not like Play Arts Kai who have been over pricing their figs lately. That's not all!!! It comes with one big machine gun (I think m60) and a knife and a separate hand molded to fit that knife. No seriously, you can put Rambo in any heart-stopping, lead-spraying action and he will still come out alive!!! Because he's RAMBO!!!!Finally NECA has made a John J. Rambo Collector's figure and I am VERY happy with the results! The articulation is pretty darn good. It doesn't look 100% EXACTLY like Stallone but, it's close enough and the beautiful packaging & titles make up for any tiny flaw such as precise likeness to the actor that some people seem to have. Totally worth the price & it looks WONDERUL on display (unopened) with my other NECA Collection! I cannot recommend this enough to the collector and / or RAMBO fan(s) out there! Cannot wait for NECA's RAMBO : FIRST BLOOD PART II series, scheduled to come out this June 2014!!! A -A good figure overall - articulation is a standard NECA body and the paintwork is applied clean and even. Only gripe is that some of the ankle and knee and elbow articulation is slightly hindered since these are single jointed. If you're after a Rambo figure - this is a great one. It's 7" tall with realistic detail. The sculpt of Stallone's head is especially impressive. It comes with several accessories - including an M60 gun, a survival knife, and lots of bullets! The figure is made by NECA, and they've done a good job. It depicts John Rambo from the original 'First Blood' film - after he's arrived back at the town, for the final act of the movie. It has lots of articulation (and, fortunately, the joints are not too visible).Overall, this is an excellent display piece. I paid under £15 (using Amazon), and I thought this was a reasonable price. Sellers who charge in excess of £20 are over-pricing this item.Very accurate of John Rambo from First Blood. The flesh detailing on the figure is excellent. The detail on the figure's jeans and boots are very well done. I like that the machine gun belts around his torso can be removed and that the figure has a spare right hand to hold his knife securely. It would have been brilliant if you were able to have to thread the belt into the M60 machine gun for added authenticity.Articulation is top notch just like the Dutch figure in the Predator series: the joints are almost hard to see and you can put the figure in some good poses.I am not sure about the face sculpt on the figure as I prefer neutral expressions on action figures. I think NECA are going to release one like this soon. Good job NECA.If you like First Blood get this it would look cool displayed on your shelf. This figure is a must have for any rambo fans who like the movies and sly stloanThis addition to neca bosts a lovely gun but shiny paint finish and unhidden arm hinges let down the overall lookn. Even the lifelike face diddnt work this time neca .fast shipping, great product, love it!
